Fuggito in Argentina nel [[1940]] per sfuggire ai nazisti si associò con il fratello e nel [[1943]] dette vita alla [[Eterpen]] la prima azienda a produrre e commercializzare in maniera industriale le penne a sfera, usando il marchio [[Biro]] che da allora, almeno in Italia, divenne praticamente sinonimo di penna a sfera.
