La prima penna stilografica venne introdotta all'incirca nel 1933<ref>questa è la data citata [https://web.archive.org/web/20141111173638/http://www.billspens.com/BillsPens/esterbrook/esterbrook.htm qui].</ref> che corrisponde a quella del primo brevetto per i pennini intercambiabili, denominati [[Renew-Point]]. Nel [[1935]] l'azienda introdusse il modello [[Dollar Pen]] chiamato così per via del prezzo dello stesso, un dollaro. E' comunque nota un produzione inglese, realizzata dalla [[Conway Stewart]] dalla metà degli anni '30 agli anni '50,<ref>secondo quanto riportato in [http://www.esterbrook.net/relief.shtml questa pagina].</ref> del modello denominato [[Relief]].
