The SAFIS origins, which stands for "Società Anonima Fabbrica Italiana Stilografiche" have been unclear for long time. It was generally referred that SAFIS was established by a not better known Mr. Lattes in Turin, remaining active between 30s and 50s in Via Ormea. Recent findings in the records of the Chamber of Commerce reported that the company was founded June 23, 1926 in Turin, under the name "Società Anonima Pennini King", although it is not clear when the name change took place.
