Questi primi modelli in [[ebanite]] venivano in genere identificati da un numero a tre cifre, in cui la cifra delle unità faceva riferimento alla misura del pennino, quella delle decine al tipo di decorazione e quella delle centinaia il tipo di caricamento. Il [[safety]] ordinario era identificato dalla cifra 3, mentre quello ''brevettato'' dalla cifra 4, mentre il [[caricamento a levetta]] dalla cifra 6 e quello a [[pulsante di fondo]] la cifra 7.  

These early hard rubber models were usually identified by a three-digit number, where the number of units referred to the size of the nib, the tens referred to decoration and the hundreds to the filling system. The safety models were identified by the digit 3 for the ordinary ones, and by the digit 4 for the ones using the company patented mechanism, while the lever filler used the digit 6, and the button filler the digit 7.  

Per le penne di ebanite nera la cesellatura ad onde normale era identificata dalla cifra 1, mentre quella ad onde più ampie dalla cifra 0. L'ebanite colorata era indicata dalla cifra 2, ed oltre al solito colore [[RHR|rosso]] ed alle versioni [[mottled|fiammate]] sono stati reperiti anche esemplari con colorazioni chiare simili a quelle della [[Waterman 94]] (sfondo giallo con venature verdi o blu).  

Per le penne di ebanite nera la cesellatura ad onde normale era identificata dalla cifra 1, mentre quella ad onde più ampie dalla cifra 0.
