La concorrenza iniziò a farsi sempre più agguerrita e le vendite della [[Kaweco]], che restava ancorata alla produzione di penne in ebanite nera con caricamento [[safety]], persero sempre più terreno rispetto agli altri produttori che iniziarono ad introdurre modelli colorati in celluloide e con caricamenti più sofisticati. In particolare le esportazioni, che erano state un punto di forza dell'azienda, crollarono a picco di fronte alla concorrenza dei produttori americani.
