Le cartucce erano realizzate in polietilene su progetto di [http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giulio_Natta Giulio Natta], premio nobel per la chimica. La caratteristica distintiva della penna, ripresa dal nome, era la capacità di contenere al suo interno una seconda cartuccia di scorta, così da non doversi trovare senza inchiostro. Con lo stesso principio venne realizzata anche la [[Aurora 888|888]], che si può considerare la versione a cartucce della [[Aurora 88|88]].
