Il codice numerico è composto di quattro o cinque cifre (a seconda del codice del colore che può prendere una o due cifre). La cifra delle unità indica la dimensione del pennino, e con questa pure la dimensione generale della penna. Per le [[Carter Coralite Pen]] dimensioni vanno del numero 2, il più piccolo, al numero 7, il più grande. Per le [[Carter Pearltex Pen]] le misure vanno dal numero 2, il più piccolo, al numero 8, il più grande.
