Non è chiara la situazione, c'é chi riporta che il marchio Mentmore sia stato progressivamente sostituito dal Platignum, ma dalla fine degli anni '30 agli anni '50 esiste una ampia produzione di penne con questo marchio.
Durante la guerra la produzione di penne venne ridotta per rispondere alle necessità dello sforzo bellico. Viene riportato che l'azienda produsse penne per spie con mappe e compassi o dotate di dardi velenosi. La produzione riprese nel dopoguerra con la realizzazione anche di penne a sfera. L'evoluzione del marchio è incerta come pure i rapporti con la casa madre. Ed oggi esistono come marchi indipendenti sia Mentmore che Platignum.
