''Uhlmann's Eterno'' was founded in Milan by ''Emil Uhlmann'' in [[1902]] as a company dedicated to productions of rolled gold overlays for different objects, as also mechanical pencils. Although it was on the market from the 1900 beginnings, general opinion was that it entered fountain pen production around the first half of '20s, by marketing some [[safety]] or [[eyedropper filler]] had rubber pen, using parts imported by Germany.

In realtà le attività dell'azienda nel campo delle stilografiche originano negli anni '10, dato che oltre al marchio ''Eterno'' ({{Marchio|12335}}) fin dal [[1912]] ''Emil Uhlmann'' registrò i marchi [[Famos]] ({{Marchio|12938}}) e ''The Royal'' ({{Marchio|14896}}) che contengono un riferimento esplicito alle ''fountain pen''. Dato che difficilmente si registra un marchio per qualcosa che non si vende, questo consente di attribuire alla ''Uhlmann's Eterno'' il titolo di più antico produttore italiano.

But in fact the company activities in the fountain pens field originated in the '10s, because since [[1912]] ''Emil Uhlmann'' registered, as well as the ''Eterno'' trademark ({{Marchio|12335}}) also the [[Famos]] ({{Marchio|12938}}) and ''The Royal'' ({{Marchio|14896}}) trademark that have explicit references to ''fountain pens''. Since it is unreasonable to register a trademark for something that is not sold, this consent to attribute to ''Uhlmann's Eterno'' the title of the oldest Italian manufacturer.

La produzione iniziale a marchio ''Uhlmann's Eterno'' ricorda comunque molto da vicino i modelli tedeschi ed americani dello stesso periodo, le penne riportavano la incisione del nome dell'azienda sul corpo della penna, insieme a quella del logo, costituito da un triangolo con un occhio al suo interno. Anche i pennini erano marcati con la dicitura ''Uhlmann's Eterno'' posta su due righe inframmezzate dallo stesso logo.
