The [[Colorado]] brand distinguishes, rather than a company, a single pen. For long time these pens, because of the filling system (a so called "[[stantuffo tuffante]]"), were attributed to [[Omas]] but they are a completely independent brand, linked to the activities of ''Orlando Quadretti'' who also holds the trademark registration ({{Marchio|75447}}). <ref>as described in the Letizia Jacopini book, this attribution is due to the Gian Stefano Germano work, who attribute it to him in the book "Storia Universale della Stilografica", and is confirmed by the direct testimony of the son of Orlando Quadretti and by the documents on the registration of Trademarks of the ''Archivio Centrale dello Stato''.</ref>

La creazione della penna è legata alle attività del negozio di Quadretti, risalenti al 1938/39, che si specializzò nella vendita di stilografiche, ed il prototipo della penna, ancora in possesso degli eredi, venne realizzato intorno al [[1939]]. In quel periodo era infatti in voga la moda delle penne "doppie" (moda lanciata dalla [[Zerollo]] e proseguita con altri modelli come la [[Itala]]) in grado di scrivere con due diversi colori.  

The creation of the pen is linked to the activities of the Quadretti store, dating from 1938-39, which specialized in the sale of fountain pens, and the prototype of the pen, still in possession of the heirs, was built around the [[1939]]. At that time it was in vogue the trend of "double" pens (launched by the [[Zerollo]] and continued with other models such as the [[Itala]]) able to write with two different colors.  

A differenza dei due modelli citati la [[Colorado]] si contraddistingue per una costruzione a forbice con due mezze penne che scorrono l'una sull'altra fino a disporsi in opposizione a 180°. Passando il cappuccio da una parte all'altra era quindi più veloce passare da una scrittura all'altra. Inoltre il meccanismo di incernieramento a forbice alla fine si può considerare meno delicato rispetto ai ben più complessi meccanismi degli altri modelli citati.

A differenza dei due modelli citati la [[Colorado]] si contraddistingue per una costruzione a forbice con due mezze penne che scorrono l'una sull'altra fino a disporsi in opposizione a 180°. Passando il cappuccio da una parte all'altra era quindi più veloce passare da una scrittura all'altra. Inoltre il meccanismo di incernieramento a forbice alla fine si può considerare meno delicato rispetto ai ben più complessi meccanismi degli altri modelli citati.
